Arase promotes three policemen who died in suicide attack, nine others

It was promotion galore as nine members of the police rank and file got promoted to their next ranks when the Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase visited the Yobe State Police Command on Saturday for an on the spot assessment of the security situation of the state.

While speaking during the visit, Arase promised officers and men of Yobe State Police Command of timely and adequate welfare.

He also announced posthumous promotion for three policemen who recently paid the supreme price in a suicide bomb attack.

He also offered automatic scholarships to their children up to university level.

The IGP also approved the promotion nine members of the rank and file who have performed gallantly to the next ranks.

He intimated the officers and men on the welfare package of current administration which includes the new police housing scheme targeting particularly the inspectors, rank and file in the first phase which will be completed in the next three months.

The houses will comprise of three and two bedrooms apartments. He expressed satisfaction at the level of commitment of officers and men of the command and demanded that they keep the flag flying.

In his remarks Deputy Commissioner of Police, Yobe State Command, Garba Patrick, thanked the IGP for visiting the command, a visit he believes will go a long way in boosting the morale of the men who hitherto had felt neglected.
