Use your talent to make a living, Yeni Kuti urges Nigerians

Yeni Kuti, daughter of legendary Afro beat musician, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti on Saturday, urged Nigerians to explore their talents in creativity to earn a living.

She gave the advice in an interview with NAN in Lagos during the celebration of the 2014 edition of “Felabration”.

She said Nigeria would experience rapid development if people, particularly youths, could identify their talents and exploit it to make a living.

“Nigerians should not depend on the government alone but identify their talent and harness it for a living. Government cannot do it all. Government can only do the little it can do.

“God endowed every human being with gifts and creativity, therefore, individuals should harness the innate abilities in them to develop the country,” she said.

According to her, the country will witness rapid development when its citizens take it upon themselves to make a change by doing the right things.

“We blame the leaders, but the citizens too are not doing what they are supposed to do. We should not support any government that is not doing the right thing; we should learn how to agitate for change and national development.

“With these, we will make a change and Nigeria will be one of the best countries in the world,” Kuti said.

She also challenged Nigerian leaders to provide basic infrastructure to improve the wellbeing of the people.

“The leaders cannot be successful if the citizens do not give them the adequate support. Therefore, government should create enabling environment for national development by supporting creativity, culture and talent,” she said.
